Air Peace is a 5 year old carrier based in Lagos, Nigeria. They’ve only been flying internationally for a year (their first service beyond Nigeria was to Accra, Ghana). They fly mostly Boeing 737s.

Nigeria’s flag carrier airline, Air Peace has pushed Nigeria’s aviation profile a notch higher with the delivery of its third Boeing 777 aircraft. The airline took delivery of its first Boeing 777 aircraft on February 23, 2018, making history as the first Nigerian carrier to acquire and register the type of aircraft in the country. The Chairman of Air Peace Limited, Barr. Allen Onyema, has called on the management of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to approve the Asaba Airport to accommodate Boeing 777. Speaking at the funeral Mass for his father, Chief Michael Onyema, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mbosi, Anambra State, Onyema stated that Delta Governor. Their call sign is ‘Peace Bird’ and their two letter IATA designator is ‘P4’. So on that basis alone I’m rooting for them.

I was shocked to learn this week that they’ve acquired a Boeing 777-200 from Emirates. They expect to take another Boeing 777-200 as well.

These birds aren’t destined for Abuja, either. They plan to fly “to Dubai, Sharjah, London, Guangzhou, Houston, Mumbai and Johannesburg.”

Some of that may be wishful thinking, but why not dream of restoring the Lagos – Houston connection that United Airlines dropped in mid-2016? Of course one has to wonder about a route that United claimed to have been losing money on for years and couldn’t sustain with a 787 but that Peace Air thinks it can make work with a Boeing 777?

This ex-Emirates bird is configured with 3 cabins: 12 first class, 42 business class, and 220 coach seats. With the same configuration, then, presumably Peace Air will retain the Emirates mini-bar.

Despite angled business class seats I’m really rooting for Air Peace and looking forward to their taking delivery of their second 777 as well.
